As a DJ or MC are you only as good as the crowd in the party say you are?

If I am only as good as the crowd screams out that I am then I must be good. I think that the audience are critics without mecry and they will boo the hell out of a person if you sound like crap. However, if they have a love one who I maybe competing against they just might boo me even if I am doing well. But for the most part after one puts away the jealousy a honest crowd can really let you know if you rock.
